The Tarsar Lake or Tar Sar is an almond-shaped lake situated in the Kashmir Valley, specifically in Aru, Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, India.
The Tarsar Lake is dominated by the peaks of the Kolahoi mountain some 20 km to the east. The lake is separated by a mountain with a minimum peak elevation of 4,000 meters (13,000 ft) from another lake of the same nature known as Marsar Lake, which is in the vicinity of Dachigam National Park.
Altitude:- 7,949ft Drive:- 5 hrs, Srinagar to Aru Aru is on the bank of the Lidder River Overnight stay at Aru’s grassy land.
Trek from Aru to Lidderwat starts with a gradual ascend, not so much of a hard task and only 8 Kms to cover. Overnight stay at Lidderwat.
Lidderwat to Shekwas trek starts with a moderate to a steep pathway for about an hour, followed by an easy pathway. We trek for about 7 kms to reach our next night's stay destination(Shekwas).
We leave for Tarsar Lake along a beautiful path. The beauty of the lake is it changes its color depending on the time, and the angle at which you look at it. We spend the day around Tarsar lake’s beautiful surroundings and camp for the night.
The trek follows across the ridge of Tarsar Lake to the valley on another side of the ridge leading to Zachmargi and finally to Sundersar Lake where we camp for the night.
A 9 Kms trek from Sundersar takes us to the wonderful Marsar Lake. After diving into the beauty of Marsar Lake we leave for Homwas and stay for the night.
We leave from the same path via Lidderwat back to Aru and then drive back to Srinagar where on our cozy beds we dream of yet another heartwarming trek/activity with Alp Savy.
