Sunset Peak also known as Romesh Thong is a mountain massif with a peak elevation of 4,745 meters (15,568 ft), in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the highest peak of this massif, the other peak is Tatakooti Peak 4,725 m (15,502 ft), Sunset Peak, as the name suggests lies in the west of The Vale of Kashmir as a whole. It is located 40 km west of Shopian town, 105 km southwest of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
A 4-hour drive from Srinagar TRC along a beautiful driveway to Yousmarg Meadow also called Meadow of Jesus. Yousmarg provides space for beautiful landscapes, young pine nurseries, green pastures, and heart-touching lotic and lentic water bodies. Neilnag, Doudganga, adds more to the beauty of the meadows. Nature has bestowed Yoususmarg with pleasant flora and fauna.
A fine and Peaceful path along the way to Sunset Peak where our Base Camp rests, with beautiful and charming locals waiting for your welcome. The trek from Yousmarg to Gagad Riyil is about 10 Kms
A very fine and wonderful path where you finally leave the pollution of cities behind and find fresh air that cleanses your soul. The trek to Advance Base Camp is of about 10 Kms with mostly rocks to climb and descend a rocky mountain.
A tiresome route in our way to surprise us with several beautiful lakes including the mighty Meker Sar. A view that one can never forget and will remove all fears of your life. The real expedition begins here, with 15 Kms to ascend along with 5 Kms ascend of glaciers which leaves a person stunned and finally walking on the cliff edge to find a clear view of the Greater and Lesser Himalayas. If lucky weather-wise, one can have a mesmerizing look of Nanga Parbat.
Back along with the beautiful path used to ascend we find our way back to Yousmarg Meadow and then drive home to our cozy beds and dream to find ourselves in yet another expedition with Alp Savy Team.
